As technology advances, it becomes more difficult for organizations to meet their data availability and management. This pressure increases multi-fold by the pace at which companies need to adapt to new market demands, shifting dynamics in the global supply chain, and their competitors’ strategic actions. The challenging environment of innovation and improving business outcomes further adds stress on the IT department.
Data is spread across various enterprise environments, remote, hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Not just this, organizations need to adapt to modern technologies to keep up with evolving market trends, this raises the risk of data loss and can also compromise data recovery.
Data silos and fragmentation of workloads and data across the entire data landscape are produced due to the adoption of multigenerational technology. This makes consistent data backup and recovery more complex and challenging.
Creating an enterprise backup and recovery plan is imperative to avoid challenges and complexity, and while doing so an organization must keep the following in mind:
The first is to have an effective data backup capability within a fixed operational timeframe. Initial backups often take longer, but subsequent incremental backups shouldn’t significantly slow down end users or backup administrators.
Speed is obviously necessary, but it is also crucial to have the ability to recover rapidly in order to accomplish business goals. You also need to be able to recover fast from a ransomware attack or other incidents to reduce downtime and data loss given the continuously changing threat landscape of today.
A strong, security-focused, scalable data protection architecture that can adjust itself to meet changing requirements is essential for reliability.
The total cost of ownership (TCO) is also very important. You need to have a tiered storage approach that can deliver high performance in line with the business value of your data, putting the most important data with high performance on priority.
Commvault® offers one Data Backup Solution for the Complete Environment.

Kinds of Enterprise Data Backup by Commvault®.
The backup and recovery of data for any operating system, database, or application must be seamless and effective as part of a comprehensive data protection solution.
Here are the different data backup types:
- Full backups
Any client’s backups begin with a full backup. The full backup serves as the benchmark for all other backup kinds.
- Incremental backups
Contains only information that has been added or updated since the last backup. Compared to full backups, incremental backups often use much less media and exert less strain on system resources.
- Differential backups
Only includes information that has changed or been added since the last full backup. Differential backups often use less material and put less strain on resources than full backups, just like incremental backups do.
- Synthetic full backups
Instead of reading and backing up data directly from the client computer, combine the data from the most recent full back up or synthetic full backup with any future incremental backups into a single archive file. Synthetic full backups do not backup data from the clients’ systems, therefore the clients’ systems are not burdened by this process.
- Selective Online Full Backup
A selective online full backup is a complete backup you conduct while the database is online for certain databases. The data, logs, and control files are all included in the selective copy sub-client. During the secondary copy process, the backup is replicated, and data is recovered using this copy.
- Block-level backups
The backups can be accelerated by combining snapshot technology with effective block storage techniques.
