Some of the features and benefits of the Aruba 500 Series Campus Access Points include:

Orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) and Cellular Optimization. 

This enables the Access Points to handle multiple Wi-Fi 6 capable clients simultaneously, regardless of traffic or device type. Clients also benefit by sharing a channel instead of competing for airtime and bandwidth by optimizing channel utilization  – which handles each transaction through resource units or sub-carriers. 

Wi-Fi Optimization

Aruba’s AI-powered ClientMatch technology enables client optimization by eliminating sticky client issues by directing clients to the Access Points to receive the best radio signal. Furthermore, to improve user experience, it also dynamically directs traffic to load balance APs.

The user experience is also optimized through Aruba AirMatch, enabling organizations to automate network optimization through machine learning. It also delivers bandwidth adjustments to support changing device density and uses an even distribution of Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) to provide enhanced roaming to radios. It also provides real-time channel assignments to reduce interference between channels.

Organizations can provide application assurance to their users using Air Slice, which monitors network usage, allocates radio resources automatically, and adjusts radio resources with new connections or at the beginning and end of application sessions post the configuration of SLAs.

The Aruba ACC feature (Advanced Cellular Coexistence), through built-in filtering, automatically reduces the impact of interference from commercial small cell equipment, cellular networks as well as distributed antenna systems (DAS).

IoT Platform Capabilities

Organizations can reduce the need for an overlay infrastructure and additional IT resources by leveraging the 500 series as an IoT platform, through the 500 series, including an integrated Bluetooth 5 and Zigbee support. This simplifies the management and deployment of asset tracking, IoT-based location services, security solutions and IoT sensors.

In addition, the Target Wake Time (TWT) is suitable for IoTs that communicate on an infrequent basis and helps improve client power saving and reduce airtime contention by setting the schedule for when the client has a requirement to communicate with an Access Point.

Accurate Indoor Location

Using embedded ranging technology, the Aruba Wi-Fi 6E Access points can self-locate and work with Wi-Fi 6 APs to accurately determine the indoor client location by establishing reference points. The need for custom map development or the creation of separate applications for both indoor and outdoor environments is eliminated as universal latitude, and longitude coordinates are used.

Aruba Secure Infrastructure

In order to enable the protection of user authentication and wireless traffic, the Aruba 500 Series includes components of Aruba 360 Secure Fabric, including WPA3 and Enhanced Open, WPA2-MPSK, VPN Tunnels and Trusted Platform Module (TPM).

Flexibility in Operation and Management

The unified Access Points can operate either with a gateway or as standalone access points – enabling greater manageability, scalability and security. It is easy to implement in branch offices and for remote work through zero-touch provisioning and does not require the on-site technical experience. It can be managed either through on-premises or cloud-based solutions – for any branch, campus, or remote work environment. 

Aruba Central, the management and orchestration console for Aruba ESP,  provides a single pane of glass, enabling the supervision of every aspect of VPNs, WANs, and wired and wireless LANs.

Secure Access

With Aruba’s policy enforcement firewall (PEF) feature, end-to-end inspection and encryption are delivered by capturing all traffic from the Access Point to the Mobility controller/Gateway. Then, policies are applied based on device type, applications, user roles, and location, which decreases the manual configuration of ACLs, SSIDs and VLANs.
