“It’s all about the app experience, whether it is internal users or external customers, customers today demand highly flexible and consistent infrastructures, whether they’re deploying apps within their company’s data center or on a public cloud,” said Koppelman.

Consistency is the ultimate aim, he further explained. In order to improve user experience, one needs a robust architecture that allows users to work from anywhere. A private data center and moving to the cloud are no longer exclusive options.

Security Is a Priority When Developing a Dynamic Infrastructure

Koppelman outlines the primary considerations that firms should make while modernizing their IT infrastructures to make them more dynamic. “When I spoke with each CIO, the first priority was security, and essentially operationalizing the notion of zero trust.”

Koppelman also prioritizes providing a uniform experience for all workers, regardless of their location. That is unquestionably an important core feature, enabling work from wherever, making it a seamless experience for its consumers, whether they’re working from home or otherwise.

Finally, he emphasized the critical nature of accelerating application development and deployment. He observed the need to expedite application deployments in a multi-cloud world and move away from these conventional designs that have slowed that down, and instead deploy software-based architectures that are distributed and secure and enable application deployments to be accelerated.

Complexity and Vulnerability Can Put Modernization of Infrastructure at Risk

Upgrading your infrastructure to make it more responsive is a task fraught with difficulties. Reducing complexity “does not always require forklifting everything out and replacing it with something new,” he explained. “However, there are methods to incorporate programmability, visibility, and intelligence into designs to hasten the process of complexity reduction.”

“Number two,” Koppelman concluded, “address vulnerability.” “Technologies included in distributed software are extremely adaptable when it comes to addressing vulnerabilities.”

Koppelman suggested technologies that provide visibility into the performance of your apps running on your infrastructure.

“Make an effort to ensure uniformity throughout the architecture you’re installing, this does not imply that all hardware components must be identical, but there are software capabilities that can be offered that can help abstract away the complexity of the hardware and overlay it on top with a more uniform software layer.”
